Continuing our topic "PARTS OF SPEECH" Let's talk about adjectives today. Here's a quick Introduction to what actually adjective is ! An adjective in linguistics is a term that typically modifies or describes the referent of a noun or noun phrase. Its semantic function is to modify the information the noun provides.

SIGNIFICANCE:

Adjectives are essential sentence construction elements in every language. Adjectives imply that we may describe the characteristics of any person or thing. Without describing terms, we would be unable to compare any article.



DEFINITION:

Adjectives are words that describe the qualities or states of being of nouns. An adjective is a word that modifies a noun (or pronoun) to make it more specific.

EXAMPLES:

1. BEAUTIFUL

( The beautiful sun was setting in the sky. )

2. FAST

( The new car is very fast. )

3. KIND

( He is a very kind person. )

4. HOT

( The soup is very hot. )

5. BIG

( America is a big country. )

6. THIRSTY

( I'm very thirsty. )

7. PRETTY

( She is very pretty. )

8. LOUD 

( The concert was very loud. )

9. CALM

( He just needs to calm down. )

10. HUNGRY

( The kids always seem hungry. )
