Tense is a grammar term used to indicate whether a sentence (or verb) is an action in the past, the present or the future. An example of tense is a verb that indicates action is going on now, or a sentence about action taking place now. noun.

In grammar, tense is a category that expresses time reference. Tenses are usually manifested by the use of specific forms of verbs, particularly in their conjugation patterns. The main tenses found in many languages include the past, present, and future.
TYPES OF TENSE:

We know about the three types of tenses that are used in English Grammar namely Past Tense, Present Tense and Future Tense. Each of these tenses is actually verbs (regular verbs and irregular verbs) that are used to indicate the occurrence of an event or action at a particular time.
Now, Let's discuss each of Them in detail. Tense is used to assign a time factor to the sentence. Tenses just like time are divided into 3 parts-
Past tense - I swam
Present Tense - I swim
Future Tense - I will swim

Time expresses:
past - before now
present - now, or any time that includes now
future - after now
Aspect can be:
progressive - uncompleted action.
perfective - completed action or state.
